Dear Mike,
Pat and I thank you for building us the home of our dreams. We appreciated your patience in walking us through all those hard decisions that had to be made, always keeping in mind that costs had to be controlled. The quality of work done by your crew and your attention to the small details of the project, brought the house in on schedule and on budget. What more can anyone ask. Mike you’re a man of your word and take pride in what you do and it shows by the results. We have gotten many compliments about the house and when people ask, WE ARE PROUD TO SAY THAT WE LIVE IN A HOME BUILT BY MIKE OWEN.
Truly,
Pat and Ray Barter
Dear Mike,
I started out to write a letter to let you know how much I have valued working with you on the projects we have done together. When I got around to describing my thoughts on what you and your staff have meant to Judi and me on our current project, my new home in Remsenburg, the letter became very long.
I decided to shorten the letter by using just one word from each sentence.
Here are the words I picked:
Professional
Competent
Sensitive
Dedicated
Involved
Caring
Focused
Anticipates
Details
Expert
The most impressive part of this is that I haven't met anyone who works for
you, from Project Manager, to carpenter, to laborer to whom I wouldn't feel
comfortable using most of the words on my "list".
You have created an impressive organization.
Best Personal regards,
Barry Beil
Dear Mike,
Please accept my sincerest “Thank You” for difficult job very well done. We could not be more pleased with the results.
I feel obligated to mention some areas that stood out in my mind. Most importantly are the time frame and the down time. From a bare piece of property to a beautiful constructed addition to our small restaurant operational in about 4 months or so, including refurbishing the original dining room and bar area, with a down time of only 36 hours for a project of this magnitude just amazes me. In the restaurant business, you can’t make money if you doors aren’t open. Not being open for Thursday lunch and dinner and Friday lunch was simply a minor inconvenience, as opposed to what cold have been. Having your workmen here before and after our hours of operation was a very positive sign of your high level of commitment to this project. Your flexing to meet my necessary need to remain open and operational was very much appreciated. Please also extend to your crews my thanks for getting to work sometimes as early as 4:00 am just to get a specific task completed. Those guys were great.
I must also tell you how much your crews cared about their work and the quality of that work. A true craftsman hones his art daily and these guys went above and beyond my expectations with their high quality of craftsmanship. All of your crews worked on this project as though they were working on their own homes.
Mike, please also thank Christine for me for walking in the door that day to offer a bid for the job. I had met with 5 other builders and had met with a lot of frustration. After meeting you and speaking about the plans for the addition, I knew that yours was the company I wanted to use.
Lastly, we were pretty much on target in our budget. We had to cut some ideas due to financial restraints, but those cuts were cosmetic, nothing to do with the construction. Your being on top the game and being in constant communication with me about everything is what I believe made all the difference in the world during this entire construction process.
Again, thanks for your work, your commitment and your professionalism throughout this whole undertaking. I feel that through all of this, a friendship has been formed. Much success to you in the future.
Sincerely yours,
Jonathan Perkins, Owner
Dear Mike,
In response to your request to take pictures of the house, we would be pleased and proud to be included in your portfolio of beautiful homes.
While I am writing I want to take this opportunity to thank you, your staff and your team of sub-contractors for your efforts, quality craftsmanship and professionalism in the conduct and completion of our project. Please feel free to use this letter as a testimonial and be comfortable in calling upon us at anytime to provide a positive reference. We would be delighted if other can enjoy the fine results you and your organization produce.
The term “dream house” is sometimes overused. In our case the reality is that Owen Construction turned an incredible nightmare into a wonderful dream come true. At the time we began work with Owen we were already many months into (and by then very behind schedule) our total house remodel, if you can call taking a house down to its foundation a remodel. At that time it had become very obvious that we had selected an incompetent architect, who in turn had recommended an even less capable general contractor. Owen Construction, because of an outstanding reputation, was one of the original bidders on the project. I now deeply regret that I allowed a lower price to be one of the factors in my decision to not contract with Owen. Fortunately for us Owen was able to step in. They remedied the poor engineering and awful construction. The Owen team then proceeded to create an amazing house. In our case the term “dream house” is not clichéd as it’s so often expressed by most people who visit our property.
With much thanks and sincerity,
Tony and Julia Graziano
Dear Mike & Staff:
My partners & I have been in the development and construction business since 1976. We have completed several subdivisions ranging from 30 to 309 home sites.
During this time we built approximately forty homes, priced from $425,000 to over 6,000,000.
In addition, we own and operate two 18 hole golf clubs, one in the North Fork wine country and another in the Hamptons. Expansions and additions are a normal occurrence.
Working with Mike and his crew has been a refreshing change from the “run of the mill”, “hit & run” contractors.
Mike brings with him an assortment of sub-contractors and job foremen that have a proven track record.
They ask the right questions early enough to avoid having to do things twice. Their professionalism & follow through makes my job much easier. In the end they save us money - not add to the costs.
If anything mentioned above requires amplification or I may be of any other assistance, please contact me at the numbers listed above.
Sincerely,
Stanley Pine
Since meeting you several years ago there always seems to be some form of construction either “in the works” or underway in my life. Therefore, there never seems to be a point at which a thank you letter would be appropriate. Well, quality work cannot go without recognition. The time has come for you and your crew to receive some accolades from us.
Having done both a commercial and a residential job with you it is clear that you treat each project with the same care and professionalism. You have done a fantastic job at the Bellport Country Club and I look forward to further projects. However, for the purpose of this letter I would like to concentrate on the work you did for Cathleen and I at our home in Bayport.
Firstly, it was very comforting to deal directly with you, the owner, during the planning stages and throughout our project. In the booming construction industry of today it is nice to know that the man behind the company truly cares about his customers and the quality of his work. You always had the time to speak with Cathleen and myself when we had questions or concerns during any phase of the construction. Your advice in many situations was sound and much appreciated.
Secondly, once the project was underway dealing with your staff was always very pleasant. Your crew are very knowledgeable and talented craftsmen. They always went the extra mile to make sure everything was done correctly. A special word of thanks to J.C. ( not to be confused with Jesus Christ), Keith, and Jose. They were always courteous and friendly to my family and I and that is something we will remember. They made us feel welcome when we were on site and they were always receptive to questions and any changes we wanted to make while the work was underway. In addition, your office staff were always accommodating and cordial, particularly Bunny (your boss) and Lauren.
In closing, our experience with Owen Construction has been one with only fond memories. Everything that was contracted for was delivered in a professional and timely manner. The quality of the work and materials used has given us a custom home that we are very pleased to own and live in. We have and will continue to recommend Owen Construction to anyone we know who is considering a construction project. Cathleen and I thank you very much for a job well done and wish you and Christine every success in the future.
Kind regards,
Niall Kelly
Dear Mike,
First my restaurant, then my house. You have shown me that you as a general contractor are quite capable of making the transition from constructing commercial buildings to constructing residences. What a superb job your entire crew did on Silver Beech Lane. From a raw, wooded odd shaped lot to the house my wife and I have dreamed of, you have once again proven your expertise in the building field. I never had a doubt, but there were times that I wanted things to move along at a faster pace, until you brought me back to reality. Quality work and craftsmanship cannot be rushed; you made me a believer of this.
From the initial contact and meeting with you, the architect, and all concerned parties, I was constantly feeling reassured that I had made the correct decision to use Owen Construction. You, your crew, and the job foreman could not have been more accommodating in making the many changes that were encountered along the way. I didn’t realize just how involved building a house from the ground up was. Believe me; I learned many things during this experience. Many of our changes/decisions were based on your knowledge, expertise and recommendations. And I must admit, they have worked out absolutely perfectly.
The next phase of our home is cosmetic. Though this has little to do with you, your hard work and dedication to thorough completion makes this process much easier. Thanks again for your help and guidance during this construction time.
Sincerely yours,
Jonathan Perkins
What an amazing journey! Just one year ago Matt and I sat in your office, reviewed the building plans, shook hands and began this journey together. Nine months later, the Jamesport Manor Inn opened its doors, once again, to our community. History has repeated itself.
We knew that Owen Construction had proven itself as a skilled and professional custom builder. We learned that you delivered much more. JC, working with you was a pleasure. You managed every single phase of the project with enthusiasm, experience and grace. We were comforted by the fact that we always seemed to be a few steps ahead of the game. Sure we had some dilemmas, but with you taking the lead, never a crisis. JC, thank you for always being there.
Then there were the details—lots of details! Keith and Sean, you are true artisans. Again, not only were you one step ahead, you not only considered each detail according to plans, but studied photos, researched architectural details, and often proposed a better design or approach at each step of the project. Great pains were taken at virtually every turn of this rebuilding process. The result is amazing. We are so proud of the landmark that has been returned to the North Fork.
None of this could have been accomplished without the depth of experience and professionalism that your crew possesses. We were on site almost every day during this nine-month rebuilding process. Your team exhibited respect, patience and pride throughout the entire process.
Taking your lead on the choice of subcontractors, completed this awesome experience. They were all experienced, knowledgeable and dependable. We realize that our required completion date certainly required flexibility and patience on their part. Hats off to all the subs—you pulled it off!
Finally, thank you Bunny. The administrative part of the building business is integral. Thanks for always being there and doing it with a smile.
We are forever grateful for your company's contribution of talent, countless man-hours, skill and passion. It truly was an amazing journey.
Sincerely,
Gail and Matt Kar
